Part 3 of “There’s No Silver Bullet To Generate Traffic For Your Website.”

The third piece of my series I would like to introduce solo ad marketing. A solo ad is another form of paid advertising. What happens is you would find an online e-zine about your niche and pay for them to send your ad to all of their subscribers.

On the surface these seems simple enough. This form of advertising has one of the highest returns on investment because people subscribed to these e-zines generally listen to what the publisher says. If there’s an ad for your product there, they’re a little more willing to pay attention to what you have to offer. This happens to be one of the more expensive ways to advertise yourself or your product because e-zine owners tend to know that they can charge higher for more qualified leads. A typical mailing might cost $50-$200 for a mailing to part of the list or $100-$1000 for one or several mailings to the list. Remember what I said earlier about getting out of your comfort zone. You’re going to have to reach a little bit and make yourself uncomfortable or you’re never going to see your business all the way through.

The hard part about running solo ads in a particular e-zine comes about when trying to find a good one to advertise on. You’re going to have to do a bit of homework when it comes down to it. How many subscribers do they have? How many active subscribers do they have? Are they professionals? How long have they been around? These are some of the questions you have to ask yourself. A good way to start answering these questions is by going to their website. You can find ton’s of e-zines in your niches by searching on Google for “Your Niche+e-zine.”

When you’re on their site, you want to look at. Does it look good to you? Would you subscribe to their e-zine? If yes, go ahead and subscribe. You want to see if they’re putting out substance. If they have a list full of people, but their articles are full of fluff and noone reads them, you’re not going to want to advertise with them, are you?

Another good way to determine if an e-zine is good to advertise with is to ask around. If you’re trying to develop your own home based business, you might try The Warrior Forum (http://www.warriorforum.com) or maybe MLM.com. These forums are full of helpful people, some whom are millionaires, who are willing to help lend a hand. They can more than likely tell you if a site is worthwhile to advertise on or they might suggest a few of their own that they prefer. It simply can’t hurt to ask people for help. The worst that can happen is you generated a few more leads and some more traffic for yourself.

One thing I do want to stress before leaving with solo ads is that you do not, I repeat, do not want to sell people. That is what your website is for. Your solo ads should be designed to pique curiosity and make them wonder at possibilities. What you really want is just a click to your website. Your website is the closer, your ad just gets them in the door, so to speak.

Ok So I've Learned Quite A Few Things

First off: People see "Free" and they'll sign up for it. This can be both good or bad depending on what you want as an outcome. This is not so good, in my opinion, for something like the Spiderweb System. Sure plenty of people sign up, but then they might have to work or spend money and just stop. They don't even finish signing up for the free things under spider web like zenzuu or yuwie. Now if you're giving away a free report or e-book to entice people to sign up for your auto-responder list, this can be a good thing. "The money is in the list." That's all I've seen plastered everywhere for the past few weeks. Someone signs up for the free e-book might be later enticed to buy your product after getting a few emails from you.

Quick recap: Don't promote "free" to people you want working a system under you. Promote free to get people to join a list so you can sell them a product.

Designing your Dream MLM Team

Multilevel marketing, or MLM, relies very heavily on the team of people you are working with. MLM by its very nature is dependent on quality relationships between a group, and as a manager of others it falls to you to build and maintain a powerful and effective group of retailers in order to maximize everyone’s profits.

Good Team Players
A good team player is many things including responsible, open to suggestion and flexible. Of course you don’t want a team consisting of those easily led, so a team player must also be able to pull his own weight and help motivate those around him.

When looking to recruit teammates, look first as personality. Is the person offensive to you or would he be offensive to others? Do you enjoy being around the individual? Working with a group has just as much to do with overall personality as it does with work ethic and abilities.

If you find yourself comfortable around a potential team member, take a look at his work background and ethics. MLM is the kind of business that works best for self-starters and those with dedication and initiative. Traditionally good employees might not make the best MLM team members as they might not have the go-to to get the job done without prodding. You don’t want to be constantly offering suggestions and pulling someone along who prefers to be given a menial task rather than finding his own way.

Your MLM team should consist of mature, dedicated individuals who aren’t afraid to work a little harder than everyone else in exchange for the kind of financial rewards that work will bring.

Motivating Your Team
Once the team is assembled, it will be your task as the manager or leader to keep everyone focused and moving forward. MLM relies heavily on bringing in new accounts and representatives, just as any sales format does, so you must keep your team fired up and working hard.

To motivate your team, you should focus on the positive goal rather than potential failure. Everyone responds better to reward than punishment. Avoid statements such as, “If we don’t make our quote this month, we’ll lose money.” Instead bring excitement to the group but relay the same message, “We’re getting close to our goal. As soon as we reach it, we’ll be looking at a huge profit!” Don’t lie, but always focus on the positive.

A strong leader always leads by example. MLM businesses often develop into passive revenue streams, but a good leader doesn’t allow his own efforts to diminish simply because his income has increased. While goals are terrific and should be set together as a team, they do not represent an ending. New goals should constantly be set, and avoid making a goal “maintaining.” It is far harder to get excited about maintaining a level than it is to fire up the team to make it to the next level.

The nature of a MLM business means that many are working to sell similar or the same products. As the leader, you should make every effort to unite your team and share strategies and incentives rather than allowing the team to compete with each other. If possible, gather together for casual activities to develop personal relationships. Discuss things other than work so that the team feels united.

You are the leader and you set the standard for your team. Be excited about the business. Share your ideas and enthusiasm with others and always look forward. Listen to what the others have to say and be fair when making decisions, but always remain the motivating force and guiding light. They look to you and your efforts will not be in vain.

How To Build Your Team For Free

Getting referrals to your website is probably the hardest thing to do. I don't like auto-surfs as they're only a way to get impressions, that's it. I have an instabuzz ad bar in my firefox window and I don't even notice any of the ads scrolling through. Maybe that works for other people, but the click through rate for me is terrible and I feel most people are the same as me: they join hoping for referrals and completly ignore evryone else's ads. Maybe with some tweaking, I could improve my success rate and in the future, I might go back and do that.

What works the best for me right now is social websites such as myspace, facebook, yuwie, etc. I especially like yuwie and direct matches because it is similar minded people trying to make money online. I know you might be thinking that all people do is spam their oppotunities on there and ignore everyone esle's, just like auto-surfs, but I have had some very good results with just starting email messages with people and letting them know I'm a real person. This is where having a good product, system, whatever comes in very handy. You can quickly develop a relationship with people through these websites and introduce them to what you have.

Another great way to advertise is through web forums. By just adding a signature to your posts, you get free advertising to a potentially very large amount of people. I have been seeing some very good initial success from just forum signatures. In fact, 90% of my hit logs to my primary website are from forum signature click throughs. The best forums to join are ones about network marketing, MLM, or making money online. People looking for answers are there all the time and you can offer them a solution. Everyone wins.

Network Marketing Woes

I've actually been a little hesitant to tell my friends and family what I've been doing as far as starting with GDI and promoting Spider Web Marketing. To me, there's a negative stigma attached to network marketing. I feel that everyone equates it to pyramid schemes and that creepy guy from high school who calls you to "catch up" after not talking or even thinking about them for years. I really just don't want to "sell" people close to me.

I really enjoy talking to people online, or people I don't know at all. I feel much more comfortable trying to "sell" them. What's so great about Global Domains International is that it's just 10 bucks! (I might be trying to sell you on the idea ;)) On top of that, the spider web system just takes all of the hard work out of selling people. The whole system is up and running and all you have to do is just promote it and plug people in.

I do have another sign up underneath me now which brings my grand total to 2 people with a net income of -$8, hah! But really, I'm excited. I think this is one of the best opportunities on the planet right now and I think it'll lead to great things for me in the future.

My short term goal for September 1st is to make $500 a month so I'll be able to focus on school and not work my bar tending job as much. I'm looking to do 18 credits these next two semesters. Heres to the future.

So it's been two weeks

I'm still pretty excited because the system I signed up under, the dream team formula, puts people that my up line recruit under me and will do the same for people I recruit and so forth. It just seems like it will work in a share the wealth sort of way. Unfortunately, I haven't had any other sign ups since I first started, but like I said, it's only $10, well $9 now since I have one sign up. I'm willing to bite the bullet on that $9 in exchange for a shot at financial freedom.
